Dad - at home full time

Been busy playing dad to Nilesh this weekend. Attending to his every need - sobs, sniffles and boos. Baby boo was rather well behaved and hope he is that way. Got drenched a few times and was rewarded with a cute smile that meant - I am relieved and at peace. Took him to a few temples and prayed for his health..

Going ballistic!

The last two days were interesting - politicians and scientists countering each other on the validity of the nuclear blasts. It was a low key blast said one scientist. I am expecting the following statements in the following few days:

  • Zardari saying Pakistan has no nuclear missiles and neither the capability to produce one and that the 1998 blasts were the result of computer graphics
  • All the world leaders coming out to say that they had no nukes all these days and that they we were only joking all these years to put up a brave face
  • Obama coming out to say that the US had abandoned its nuclear progamme after WWII.

Wow, the world would definitely be a better place...Peace to all.

Turning back time

Last week - August 16, 2009 - I did that - well I managed to, atleast. Armed with a train ticket from Madurai to Bangalore, I went to the railway station, only to discover to my horror that the ticket is from Bangalore to Madurai - same day. What followed was a classic case of ' I ran' - bus after bus from Madurai to Trichy to Salem to Bangalore. All at a cost of less than Rs 200. Reached Bangalore at 11 the next day morning.

Independence day

How relevant would inpependence day be to Nilesh. For someone like me born in the seventies, the concept was a lot for fresher. From the muted celebrations of the 30th ID celebrations to the progressively media hyped 40th, 50th and 60th anniversaries, ID has become more of a birthday celebration than a solemn one. Is India 62 years old today or is 'Bharat' more than a million years old. Would like Nilesh to savour India's 150 th ' birthday'. Make him feel liberated. Happy ID Nilesh.

First words

Spoke to him and told him the same words. A smirk and a inquistive look in return - My little star.

Reaching out..

How do you announce the birth to the world?
  1. Tell them - call your near and dear and far and near - tell them whatever it is - hear their wishes and thoughts - thank Graham Bell for this
  2. Mail whomever you couldnt call
  3. Change the orkut profile to 'Children: Yes - at home full time'
  4. Tweet your friends
  5. Blog it
  6. Have a sticker on your card which reads 'Baby on board'

1, 3 and 5 are done. I am yet to twitter. 2 will do tommorrow. 6 once I get back to my car.

Bambi eyes

Bambi eyes...Thats the first thought which struck me as I saw my little one..behind the glass window..He seemed to wonder what the fuss was all about. Still waiting to touch him, feel his breath, stroke his hair, catch his fingers and whisper into his ears. Should happen today or tommorrow.

My son

'You'll never be alone. You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father and the father becomes the son. '

I am going to see my newborn today. I hope to tell him the above lines from 'Superman'. I hope he becomes one someday.I wonder whose eyes he has, whose nose, whose mouth he has...Whatever he has, I hope he is healthy.

Btw, his name will be Nilesh - the blue Krishna. Conceived on the Nile, as cool as blue. As naughty as Krishna.

Am back in Bangalore.

I wash

Decided to kill time by washing my clothes rather than use the machine. Few pointers:
- Saves water
- Saves time
- Good exercise - equivalent of doing 20-30 sit ups in a quarter hour
- Clothes have a fresher feel
- Also cleans up the bathroom floor

Revelations

Watched Kate and Leopold this week - Hugh Jackman and Liev Shcreiber - one 'steals' the other's love (ex love rather). Come to think of it, X Men Wolverine might have been a prequel to K&L. They have been fighting since time immemorial.
